This photo displays present day Bourbon St. blended with a photo of the same spot in 1935. Immediately I am drawn to the differences. The old fashioned cars contrast the shadow of the modern day car. The men walking down the street are dressed in their nice hats and coats. Nowadays, tourists overcrowd Bourbon St with little to no clothing. The scene in 1935 is calm. There are no fluorescent signs, no daiquiri shops, no clubs blaring auto-tuned music. To me, the 1935 Bourbon St. is so much better. The French Quarter and Bourbon St are places so rich in history, yet that history has been overshadowed by strip clubs and alcohol. This photo allows people to get a sense of the real French Quarter. It proves that there is a history behind every place, no matter its image today.
